On March 20th, 2025, over 50 students from Granada Hills Charter’s New Media Program participated in a dynamic two-hour workshop with Anatola Araba — Futurist, Filmmaker, and Founder of Reimagine Story Lab.
Throughout the session, students redefined artificial intelligence and explored its environmental impact. They dove into interactive activities on algorithmic bias, learned a practical framework for prompt engineering, and discovered how AI can be a powerful tool in storytelling and creative industries.
Below is a summary of student responses, along with resources to continue your journey in using AI to shape the world you imagine.

During the workshop, students were asked to identify potential challenges that future students at a distant version of GHC might face. Their insights directly contributed to the creation of GHC GPT — a real, customized AI tool designed using publicly available knowledge about Granada Hills Charter, built to support students navigating this evolving academic landscape.
Students were invited to imagine Granada Hills Charter in the year 2050. Their real-time responses were used as prompts for our very own GHC GPT, which transformed their visions into AI-generated images of what schools of the future might look like.
Interestingly, approximately 20.6% of students (7 out of 34) envisioned robot or AI teachers. This raises a compelling question: What role will human teachers play in a future where AI may become an educational norm?

Prompt: “Create a school room with more advanced technology, like everyone may have floating screens that follow them when they walk around, so they can turn assignments in or just use it for class use, maybe sending messages.”

Prompt: “Classrooms have fixed and advanced air conditioners. for more comfortable quality for the students. Prices for GHC snacks or merchandise are more cheap. Homework is no more and teachers are robots.”

***Prompt: “*A classroom in the future would have much better lighting. Something not as harsh possibly even lights off.”

Prompt: “I imagine seeing many more technology and modern floors walls and seats that connect to your head to see what you’re thinking.”

Prompt: “In 2050, Granada Hills Charter is high-tech and flexible. Classrooms have flexible seating, interactive walls, and students use AR glasses or VR headsets for lessons. AI personalizing learning.”

Prompt: “Seeing more advanced technology, like everyone may have floating screens that follow them when they walk around, so they can turn assignments in or just use it for class use, maybe sending messages.”

Prompt: “In a school in the distant future walls will all be screens.”

Students often associate AI with robots and tools like ChatGPT. The responses show that their understanding is also shaped by pop culture references like iRobot and Ultron.

The largest group, at 58.1%, expects the role of homework to evolve, suggesting a belief in transformation rather than elimination—possibly toward more tech-based, personalized, or interactive forms.
